Abstract:In modern times, due to rapid urbanisation and the disorded expansion of urban areas, the streets of the city can still become waterlogged after heavy rainfall, creating a serious problem of internal flooding. The ancient city of Guangfu is the only puddled city in northern China, yet it rarely floods due to the wisdom of its unique water environment. Through field research on the site layout, spatial form, street space and waterfront nodes of Guangfu Ancient City,we systematically analyse the site features of Guangfu Ancient City as a dryland and water city,a puddle centre and a city with water,as well as the construction features of the site, the double waters around the city and the turtle back terrain, explore the urban construction patterns under the influence of the water environment, and propose methods and measures to adapt urban construction to the water environment. This study will provide inspiration and reference for modern urban planning and construction.
