Abstract:The Chuihong Bridge in Wujiang is a model of traditional Chinese bridge landscape construction. Through a thousand years, it integrated natural landscape with cultural heritages, and became a famous attraction in the Jiangnan region. From the perspective of landscape architecture, this article took the Chuihong Bridge scenic area as the research object. In the context of the East Taihu Lake’s environmental change, this research systematically explored the historical evolution of the Chuihong Bridge scenic area, through field survey and historical data analysis. On this basis, it revealed the landscape characteristics of the Chuihong Bridge scenic area from site investigation, layout, bridge design and ornamental details. Furthermore, it extracted the cultural nature of elegance of the Chuihong Bridge scenic area, from the perspectives of regional landscape system, spiritual character expression, art and literary activities, and landscape imitation in royal gardens of the Qing Dynasty. This research provided reference for the protection and inheritance of the Chuihong Bridge landscape heritage.
