Abstract:The Mahavira Hall of Longxing lecture temple is one of the earliest existing ground wooden structure buildings in Hunan. There are rich Liang Fang color paintings in the hall, which have the characteristics of both official and folk color paintings, and are uncommon in other places. Through on-the-spot investigation and mapping, this paper compares the patterns of Liang Fang color paintings in the main hall with the official color paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, explores the origin of different patterns one by one, and infers the origin and change process of Liang Fang color paintings in the main hall. Taking the main hall of the lecture temple in Longxing as a starting point, this paper explores the law of the evolution of xuanzi color paintings in Hunan from official style to folk style in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
