Abstract:During the Ming and Qing dynasties, there was a new climax in urban development. After decades of war,large-scale urban reconstruction activities were launched in the Bashu area. In the various local chronicles compiled by the official government in the Qing Dynasty,a large amount of historical information related to the city construction with pictures and texts were recorded, which could provide reliable research materials and important supporting evidences for the study of space environment construction of the Bashu cities during this period. Through the analysis and sorting on historical maps and written records in local chronicles, this paper discusses the typical laws and regional characteristics about the space environment construction of Bashu cities in the Qing Dynasty from the aspects of site selection and layout, spatial structure, and landscape shaping, which can not only enrich the research perspective of space environment construction of the ancient cities, but also provide useful inspiration for the current urban planning and construction.
