Abstract:Based on the common artistic spirit of seal, garden and Shanshui, this paper explores the possibility of contemporary landscape architecture design employing the case of Qi Baishi seal engraving art museum. According to Baishi's concept of “seal comes from book”, this paper deduces the idea of “garden is born from seal”. Then it abstracts the geometric form of the building through the method of “printing and engraving space”, and combines the artistic conception of Shanshui spirit, thus finally achieving the Linquan interest of living, touring, traveling, and observing in the museum. The design practice shows that only by breaking away from the shackles of traditional symbols, truly rooting in the consistency of Chinese cultural conceptions, and thoroughly exploring the real logic of garden language, can garden’s spirit continue to face the future.
