Abstract:Most historical and theoretical studies of texts and images related to Yipu Garden revolve around literary rhetoric and restoration,but little textology and analysis. Investigating documents surviving from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties during Jiang family's,iconographic and iconological analysis,and intertextual interpretation will be presented. The study claims that the recipient of the painting Yipu Drawing was not Jiang Cai but his second son,Jiang Shijie,the scene of Yipu Garden shown in the painting is the result of gardening by the father and son of the two generations. The differences between the father's and son's situations and ideas also emerge in the layout of the garden of this period.
