Abstract:The Chujing Garden of Suzhou Zhenze Shijian Hall covers an area of only about 170 square meters,but the garden is fully functional,with lively landscape. These gap gardens are the most common type of private garden,with limited land and irregular boundaries. However,they can maintain spatial order and create unique scenery experiences during gardening,making them more suitable for discussing the spatial art of traditional gardens that“Imaging The Big From The Small”. This article starts from the concept and aesthetic foundation of the gap garden,using seal cutting techniques as a layout analogy, studying the flexibility of landscape principles in dealing with specific site condition,and exploring the common characteristics of such gardens and the characteristics of Shijian Tang's gardening.
