Abstract:Due to the good durability, stone carvings are more likely to preserve historical information in the building complex. A great number of stone carvings made in Qianlong Dynasty were continue to be used after the fire and reconstruction of the core area of Longevity in Summer Palace.Among which, the building foundations, platform bases and the balusters have particularly distinctive characteristics of the times. According to these characteristics,a detailed investigation was carried out on the foundations and platform bases of Paiyun Hall and The Foxiang Pavilion. It was found that the platform of Paiyun Hall was reconstructed from that of Grand Hall of Da BaoEn YanShou Temple, while the platform of Foxiang Pavilion was completely rebuilt. The construction archives of Summer Palace were extended from the perspective of these physical remains.
