Abstract:The paper introduces the "Sites of Memory" theory and combines the public domain attributes of historic urban public parks to explore its’ recognition, construction and preservation & renewal applications way. This research aims to establish a connection between the heritages’objective information and the subject's historical experience, takes field, place, scene as the spatial medium for reading and storing collective memories, and takes reality, function, and symbol as the constituent elements of the memory sites, experience, value, and meaning as the ternary elements of the subject's experience results, and carries out the recognition and reconstruction practice from multiple dimensions such as time stage, spatial scale and the existence status of memory sites. On this basis, the article takes the Pipa Mountain Park in Chongqing as an example to reveal the historical fields, places, and scenes of the park in different periods, and proposes strategies for repairing, activating, and presenting the corresponding memory site elements, in order to promote the dynamic experience and construction of the memory sites for the publics,and innovate the practical logic and action theory of heritage preservation and inheritance practice.
