Abstract:Gassho-zukuri Dwelling is a vernacular architecture in Shirakawa, Japan, which has been well continued in the process of urbanization. It creates a built environment that is harmonious with the environment through technology tailored to local conditions, reflecting the survival wisdom and living culture of traditional settlements. Taking the Gassho-zukuri Settlement in Shirakawa as an example, this paper analyzes the wisdom of cooperative house building, wooden frame construction, and fire protection integrated into the environment from the perspective of "Join Forces", and proposes strategies for activating and inheriting ecological wisdom, aiming to inspire research on traditional settlements in China.
