Abstract:Qushui Garden is a private garden of the Wu Clan in Fengnan, Huizhou in the mid-Ming Dynasty, which is famous for its beautiful water and is a model of private gardening in Huizhou. To explore the way of creating the landscape by water management in Qushui Garden, we firstly read the "Records of Qushui Garden" and "Miscellaneous Chants of Qushui Garden" to verify and restore the appearance of Qushui Garden; then analyze the characteristics of the site selection from the source of gardening, explore the specific implementation path of landscape management by water management, and clarify the idea of gardening in Qushui Garden. The study finds that the Qushui Garden creates a landscape environment by borrowing living water, the composition of the landscape and the creation of the landscape with the curve and the square, with the scenery to understand the way, and constitutes a gardening style that is appropriate to the place and is distinguished by water with its unique way of water management. This is of great significance for understanding the water management techniques and gardening ideas of Huizhou gardens and for inheriting the artistic value of classical gardens.
