Abstract:With the aid of the phenomenological research method in architecture, this paper describes and analyzes the traditional settlement phenomenon of Dian Tou Ancient Village. The analysis progresses from the material representation to the spiritual core on three levels: residence, habitation,and existence. The paper argues about the historical evolution, overall layout, spatial form, resident consciousness, and spiritual place of the settlement. The traditional settlement of Dian Tou Village has three characteristics: adaptability and continuity, discreteness and centripetal force, and consciousness and sense of belonging. Based on this, the paper considers how to conform to the objective laws in the protection and renovation of traditional villages, and how to effectively promote the inheritance and regeneration of historical villages by analyzing the characteristics of the settlement.
