Abstract:In order to adapt to the humid and rainy climate, the traditional residential construction in the Jiangnan region has accumulated rich and effective local experience in craftsmanship. Taking Huizhou as an example, this article conducts field research, combined with relevant research results and ancient literature, and from the perspective of the combination of“residence”and“living”, explores how the local traditional residential construction adjusts humidity and meets the skills of safety, durability, health and comfort of housing from three aspects: residential settlements, residential entities, and residential environment.Finally, it points out the historical value of its craftsmanship, artistry, and craftsmanship philosophy.
