Abstract:In order to understand the characteristics and connotations of various land patterns soundscape in classical gardens, the six classifications of " Site Investigation " in Yuan Ye are divided into two main systems of "Mountain Villa" model and "Urban Mountain Forest " models from the perspective of the geographical environment elements. Considering that the two systems are represented by the "Mountain Forest Land" model and the "Urban Land" model, the prominent gardens in Jiangnan during the end of the Ming Dynasty, such as the Jichang Garden and the Humble Administrator's Garden, are selected as representative examples. Then, the study investigates the characteristics and connotations of various land patterns landscapefrom three perspectives: poetry, art, garden, and comes to the following conclusions: Firstly, the "mountain forest land" model employs the technique of "borrowing sound" to systematically take the natural sound as the winner. Multiple theories and methods are used by the "urban land" model to coordinate artificial sound and natural sound; Secondly, the use of classical paradigms such as "listening to the spring under the moon", "listening to the wind" and "listening to the rain" and the rationale for the integration of multi-sensory dimensions such as audio-visual have matured in the late Ming Dynasty. These factors, together with historical and humanistic factors such as poetry and painting, have influenced the evolution of garden listening and appreciation culture. Thirdly, The study also discovered that soundscapes have the impact of strengthening the emotional connection and empathy between humans and environment. The relevant conclusions aim to provide a theoretical foundation for the study of Chinese classical garden soundscape, as well as practical suggestions and direction for the construction of modern garden soundscape.
