Abstract:The logic of nature and the biophilic characteristics derived from this logic are the key factors to make many classic historical buildings alive forever. Based on the elucidation of the theoretical basis of biophilia promoting environmental preference, and the analysis of the relationship between the logic of nature and the design of biophilic architecture, and with identifying four groups of information, namely, ‘prospect and shelter’, ‘complexity and order’, ‘temptation and mystery’ and ‘environment like savanna’ as clues, explores and proves the expression and practice of the concept of biophilia with the logic of nature as its carrier in historical buildings, in order to provide a helpful reference for design practice and theoretical development of contemporary biophilic architecture.
