Abstract:Pushuting garden is a private garden of Zhu Yizun, and was so famous in Jiangnan area in the early Qing dynasty. It was included in Tong Jun’s masterpiece of gardens in Jiangnan and was also called a valuable garden by Chen Congzhou. This Article is based on the site investigation, through analyzing literature and images, revises the plane graph drawn by Tong Jun in 1930s, and traces the buildings. Puts emphasis on the textual research and restoration of the garden in the early Qing dynasty, when Zhu Yizun was alive. Then explores its construction characteristics at three aspects. Firstly, it selected its site in a plain-water town, which can receive all of the mountain, water and field views. Secondly, the construction of the garden mixed with literati taste and wildlife interest. Thirdly, the activities in the garden were always relevant to culture and production.
