Abstract:In the late Ming, cultural activities prevailed in gardens, and the cultural activities and the garden construction influenced each other,and both became a way of self-realization for literati. Fei Yuanlu, a literati in the late Ming, put forward the idea of "fighting against the vulgarity and acquiring high aesthetic feelings through the appreciation of objects ", and practiced his philosophy in the Jiaxiu Garden. Based on the interpretation of Fei Yuanlu's historical documents of Jiaxiu Garden, this paper analyzes the site selection and spatial characteristics of the garden, the cultural activities in the garden, the interaction between cultural activities and garden space, and discusses the garden activities of the literati living in seclusion in the late Ming. As well as the idea of garden living reflected in the cultural activities.
