Abstract:The emergence of Lan Pavilion assembly organized by refined scholars and literary works such as Preface of Painting Landscape by Zong Bing in the 4th century AD marked that China had a clear landscape culture. Chinese people prefer the broad mountains and rivers, the bounded space and a state of mind with unlimited expansion. In the constant interaction with nature, this kind of consciousness gradually become a kind of cyclic thinking set. Based on ‘spatial reciprocation’, a cultural feature of Chinese people’s pursuit of space, this paper studies the cultural origin of spatial reciprocation and opposite scenery design. Combined with landscape design in ancient local chronicles and Yangshi Lei Archives, this paper also discusses the theory and method of Chinese traditional landscape space design from the perspective of Chinese landscape culture and aesthetics.
