Abstract:Based on the investigation of the remains of "Yueting" in Hainan, this paper analyses the architectural morphological characteristics and evolution clues of the "Yueting" from the perspective of cultural geography. On this basis, the paper studies the origin relationship between the "Yueting" and the pavilion, and holds that the "Yueting" in Hainan is the result of the transformation from a pavilion building with military defense function to an administrative Pavilion building, which emerged in the Qing Dynasty after the birth of the township treaty system in the Ming Dynasty, and is the existing form of the functional Pavilion building in the contemporary era.The several "Yueting" left in Hainan are the direct material carriers for studying and tracing the history of rural contract, which have precious historical cultural value.
