Abstract:From the angle of the regulation on the ratio of the depth from the axis of columns to the eage of the basement (named Xiayanchu in Chinese) to the depth of eave projection (named Shangyanchu in Chinese) in historic documents of Qing Dynasty, this article collects and analyzes the data of the existing remains of Tang Dynasty and the relative Japanese remains and from the results of those analyses the article further analyzes the status quo of the East Hall in Foguangsi Temple. The conclusion of this article is that the original practice of eave of this building be without flying rafter, Feizi in Chinese.
