Abstract:Daming Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Xiaowu of Liu Song in the southern dynasty, so it was named after its year. Jianzhen, an eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty, was the abbot of the temple, and the temple gradually became deserted after the Song Dynasty. Adjacent to the west side of Daming Temple, Pingshan Tang was first built in the Song Dynasty as a private residence of Ouyang Xiu, then a magistrate in Yangzhou. To the west of Pingshan Hall is West Park, built by Wang Ying-geng in the first year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, it was the first of the “Eight ancient monasteries” in Yangzhou, and Daming temple had been built and destroyed many times, it has reference value for the construction, inheritance and development of traditional gardens.
