Abstract:There is a suburban altar on the east side of the an ding gate outside the ancient capital of Beijing, which was originally called the Fang Ze Altar, and later changed to the Di-tan (Earth Altar). It was built in the ninth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties sacrificed the "Imperial Land God", and it is also the only altar of the sacrifice place that has maintained the original pattern in China, with magnificent architecture, simple and elegant, and unique style. Along Anwai Avenue, there was a large archway, which was destroyed in the early 1950s. In order to restore the style of the ancient capital and the pattern of the Di-tan, and add the landscape of the street, the Dongcheng District Government decided to invest in the restoration of this archway. This article introduces some research materials about the archway of the Earth Altar, and puts forward some brief views on the restoration plan.
