Abstract:The Ming Dynasty was a prosperous period in China's ancient history, during which a large number of civil engineering projects were built and a unique architectural style was formed. However, there are retained few architectural colored pattern paintings in Ming Dynasty, and less written records. After examination and analysis, the architectural colored pattern paintings of Ming Dynasty can be divided into two types. The first is the "Golden dragon" pattern. This kind of colored painting uses a large amount of gold foil , which is an high level architectural colored painting at that time. Also known as palace colored painting. And next lower level colored painting is "Dragon Tendril " pattern, which is generally painted on the temple buildings built by the emperor. The second kind of "tangent circle"pattern, this kind of colored painting with a small amount of gold foil, simple but a wide range of application, general temples, ancestral temples and other buildings are basically widely used. This paper introduces its art subject and craft methods.
