Abstract:Yongtong Bridge, commonly known as The Small Stone Bridge, was built in the early years of Emperor Yongtai of the Tang Dynasty and is located on the Qingshui River outside the west gate of Zhao County, Hebei Province. It is an "Open shoulder" style arc stone arch bridge. Yongtong Bridge is famous for its small and exquisite carving. It has been repaired several times through vicissitudes, and since the Ming Dynasty, it has been repaired as many as four times in documents and inscriptions could search. In the past hundred years, the damage has become more and more serious, the main arch has been longitudinally cracked, and the bridge structure is in jeopardy. The ventral arch and bridge deck were badly damaged by weathering, and they collapsed several times, and the railings were mutilated. This article documents the entire process of repairing the Yongtong Bridge in 1984. The repair project conforms to the principle of traditional architecture maintenance, which not only strengthens the bridge structure, but also maintains the basic size and appearance of the original bridge, and achieves the expected results.
