Abstract:Classical Chinese gardens have a long history, and from the perspective of garden history, the Taoist school in the pre-Qin period is actually the founder of the classical Chinese garden system. Although the garden is "considerable, visitable, playable, and inhabitable", its basic function is a spiritual function. The garden environment is the "spiritual place" in people's lives, which also shows more people's ideological understanding and thinking concepts of the natural universe and social life. Therefore, it must be profoundly influenced by the yin and yang concept of classical Chinese philosophy. It is also this influence that has created a unique Chinese natural garden system. This article explores the significant influence of the Taoist view of yin and yang on Chinese gardens.
