Abstract:Shaoxing ancient towpath was a passage for people to sail boats and escape from wind and waves in ancient times, located on the Shaoxing section of the Zhejiang East Grand Canal, It start from Qian Qing in the west ,ending Tao Yan in the east, passing through Hutang, Ruanshe, Keqiao, Jianhu, Lingzhi, Donghu, Gaobu and other townships, crossing the whole territory of Shaoxing, which is a major feature of Jiangnan Water Town. Through the field investigation of the Shaoxing ancient towpath, this paper introduces its structural characteristics and technical achievements.
