Abstract:Buddhism was introduced to Japan from China at a very early time. The "dry landscape" technique, which is still widely used in Japanese gardening circles, is the result of the influence of Chinese Buddhism. The most famous "dry landscape" garden was built in the 16th century in the Abbot South Court of Ryoan-ji in Kyoto. For many Japanese, "dry landscape" is a spiritual garden, the most exquisite garden that can evoke endless imagination. It is unique in landscape design to get maximum effect with minimum materials.
