色彩是中国古代建筑装饰中的主要特征，彩画的技艺更是历史悠久，其建筑艺术在世界上是独树一帜的。建筑色彩与彩画起源于材料防护和建筑审美双重因素。根据清代圆明园工册所用过及现在所通用的颜料，建筑彩画上近代常用的颜料包括矿物质，植物颜料及无机颜料。

Color is the main feature of traditional Chinese architectural decoration, and the technique of color patterns painting has a long history, and its architectural art is unique in the world.
