园林木雕以它匀称的造型，洗练的线条，简而美的纹饰，画龙点睛地增添了建筑物的美感。元明以来逐渐盛行寓意性题材的花纹，至清代更加盛行。这类花纹都有吉祥的寓意，一种是用形象来暗喻的，另一种是利用谐音的方法。木雕把生活变成艺术，强调突出美的结构，保留最有特征性的结构，从具体到概括，从写实到写意，是我国劳动人民形象思维能力和概括能力提高的具体表现。

Abstract:

Garden wood carvings can increase the aesthetic feeling of buildings through modeling, lines, and patterns. The allegorical wood carving patterns were common in the Yuan and Ming dynasties and became more popular in the Qing Dynasty. One type of pattern is to utilize the auspicious meaning of things themselves, the other is to use the homophony of things. The development of wood carving theme from realism to freehand brushwork is a concrete manifestation of the gradual improvement of the working people's image-thinking ability and generalization ability.
