Abstract:Yao Chengzu was another architect of the Ming Dynasty after Kuai Xiang, the chief servant of the Ministry of Works. He was born in a family of carpenters and devoted himself to architecture all his life. The four famous buildings he designed and built are: Lotus Blossom waterside pavilion in Yiyuan, Suzhou, Plum Pavilion in Xiangxuehai, Guangfu Town, Wu County, Daxiong Hall in Lingyan Mountain, and Yanjia Garden in Mudu Town. In his later years in Suzhou city, Yingyang Lane no. 6 built "Bu yun xiao zhu" is also a unique classical garden.
