Abstract:The Museum of Chinese History displays two relics --glazed "Chi-wei" and "animal heads" unearthed in Ningan County, Heilongjiang Province, which are decorative pieces on the roofs of traditional Chinese buildings. The shape of the "Chi-wei", the tail of a legendary Marine animal, is located at either end of the building's main ridge. The location of the "beast head", another relic, on the roof ridge of the building remains to be further studied.
