中国造园历史悠久，五千多年前的原始社会末期已有造园的方法。造园大发展，园艺大提高在秦、汉时期。城市绿化发展、寺观园林兴起在两晋南北朝时期。宫苑竞奢，私园崛起，诗画、山庄式园林兴盛在隋、唐时期。堆山叠石艺术的高潮、宫苑南北争丽在宋、辽、金、元时期，中国古典园林的晚期造园高峰在明、清时期。中国造园艺术已形成了自己独特的风格，在世界造园史上写下了光辉的一页，丰富了世界园林艺术的内容，受到国内外建筑和园林研究者的重视，要保护和继承发展中华民族的珍贵遗产，并使之发扬光大。

Abstract:

China has a long history of gardening. There were gardening methods in the late primitive society more than 5,000 years ago. Horticulture greatly developed and greatly improved in the Qin and Han dynasties. The development of urban greening and temple gardens rose in the Wei-Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. Villa style gardens flourished in the Sui and Tang dynasties. The art of rockery and stones reached its climax in the Song, Liao, Jin and Yuan dynasties, and the last peak of Chinese classical garden was in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Chinese garden art has formed its own unique style, enriched the content of the world garden art, and received the attention of architecture and garden researchers at home and abroad.
