我国是世界的文明古国。传统建筑及园林历史悠久，风格独特，是世界文化艺术宝库中一颗璀灿的明珠。它显示着我国工程技术与艺术的辉煌成就，凝聚着古代能工巧匠们的聪明才智和精湛技艺，是中华民族的一笔宝贵财富，反映了我国古代物质文明和精神文明达到的高度水平。随着历史的发展和时代的进程，将越来越显示出它极其宝贵的价值。为了千百年的古建筑传统文化和技艺得到科学的、全面的传承，对传统建筑理论和实践进行专门研究、整理、总结和提升，使之逐步形成一个学科，使中国的传统建筑文化、理论、技艺、经验见于经传，《古建园林技术》杂志应运而生，于1983年12月创刊。它的内容包括古建筑与园林艺术研究、保护维修古建筑与园林方针政策的探讨、古建筑技术的改革与应用、传统形式建筑的设计与施工，以及文物古建筑与园林的实测、复原和重建设想等方面。

It shows the brilliant achievements of China's engineering technology and art, embodies the wisdom and superb skills of ancient craftsmen, is a precious treasure of the Chinese nation, reflects the high level of China's ancient civilization. With the development Times, it will increasingly show its extremely valuable value. The "Traditional Chinese Architecture and Gardens" was first published in December 1983. Its purpose is to systematically study, sort out, summarize and improve the traditional architectural theory and practical experience, so as to gradually form a discipline, so that the culture and technology of Traditional architecture can be scientifically and comprehensively inherited. Its contents include ancient architecture and garden art research, policy discussion of Traditional Chinese Architecture and garden protection and maintenance, the reform and application of Traditional architecture technology, the design and construction of traditional forms of architecture, as well as the actual measurement and restoration and reconstruction of Traditional Chinese Architecture and Gardens.
